iPhone 3G

Now, if you've been following my Twitter, you would have noticed by now that I'm pretty excited about Apple's iPhone 3G.  You may also know that I've lost my iPhone 2G to the horrors of it cracking. By the grace of [insert your favorite deity's name here], I was able to sell it on eBay for just over $200.

In the event that you've been under a rock for over a month now, you would know that the 8GB iPhone 3G costs just that, $200. Obviously, before taxes and the rest of that hoopla that AT&T tacks on...but I digress.

My iPhone loss has been known through my small Twitter community to be a most tragic one. The guy over at 26dayswithoutaniPhone.com doesn't know the pain, seeing as how he's JUST stopped using his iPhone...thus making it, more or less "15 days without an iPhone."

Again, slightly digressing... and now back to the topic of this post: the iPhone 3G

The iPhone 3G is giving us some features we've wanted ever since it's older brother came out.
We've been given GPS - which I find to be very useful, but really not as much, since I already own a Garmin...but if I were to forget it, I'm sure it would come in just as handy.
We've been given 3G - Twice as fast network speeds...not a huge change for me, since I live in an area where there is no 3G yet, but I imagine that will change soon, just as we got a speed boost on EDGE after the iPhone 2G was released.
An up to date OS - with better connectivities, like .Mac and such, making life easier, and the ever famous App Store.
A new body - The style is new, the screen is new, and I am hoping it's all more durable.

Pricing -
8GB - $200
16GB - $300 (with an option of white)
Data - $30
Text - $5
AT&T's cheapest voice - $40

Of course, if you're a current AT&T customer and you're ineligible for a phone upgrade, there will be the upgrade fee, unless you're currently an iPhone customer.

The release is on July 11th, and if you're going to the Tampa, FL Apple Store, you can expect to see me, along with other bloggers with our heads buried in our MacBooks.
