AT&T has released, among other information, that the iPhone 3G will be released at 8 AM July 11th.AT&T also said that they will have a "no-commit" option for the iPhone 3G. In other words, pay full price.
Also, kind of an obvious one, if you don't qualify for upgrade pricing, you must pay full price, as well as sign a new contract.
Plans start at $69.99 for 450 anytime minutes, 5000 night and weekend, unlimited mobile-to-mobile and iPhone 3G data. AT&T's unlimited voice plan including iPhone 3G service is $129.99. SMS text message bundles are available for $5 (for 200 messages a month), $15 (for 1500 messages a month) and $20 (for unlimited text messages) a month, or $0.20 per message.
My advice? Call up AT&T and find out if you qualify for the cheaper price for the iPhone 3G. If they say that they can't release that kind of information, then just ask if you can get the subsidized price for some other "smart" phone, it would basically be the same. If you're not eligible for the upgrade pricing, find out how much it would cost to cancel your account (as in early termination fees). Chances are the ETF would cost less than buying a whole new iPhone, unsubsidized ($600-ish area). Everyone else, just get really antsy, cause there's 9 days left!
